AMERICA VOTES 2012. Barack Obama wins Second Term

US Democratic Party presidential candidate, Barack Obama has been re-elected as the next President of United States of America after defeating his rival, Republican Mitt Romney.

Obama was declared winner after results from the key swing American states put him in the lead against  Mitt Romney in a race that has been widely seen as the toughest ever against President Obama.

In his maiden speech after being declared the next President of United sates of America, Obama had this to say "‎And whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you. I have learned from you. And you've made me a better president. And with your stories and your struggles, I return to the White House more determined and more inspired than ever about the work there is to do and the future that lies ahead."

Obama managed to hit the target of the state-by-state vote. The state-by-state vote requires a candidate to hit at least 270 electoral votes.

After the pronouncement, Romney conceded defeat and even called President Obama to congratulate him upon his victory. President Obama also congratulated Romney for the journey well moved, though he wasn't able to make it to the White House.
"I ... want to say to Governor Romney congratulations on a spirited campaign. I know that his supporters are just as engaged and just as enthusiastic and working just as hard today"

During the campaigns, Obama was able to capture support of many especially the minority groups in America because of his policies that were seen as favoring them. Mitt Romney was accused of suggesting policies that favor mainly the rich and ignoring the poor, a weakness that Obama took advantage of to win majority support of the middle class Americans who form the largest percentage of the American electorate.

World leaders and Heads of Governments are sending congratulatory messages to Barack Obama upon his re-election. A high level of democracy has been seen as exercised in the US polls. In less than 12 hours after the pronouncement of Obama as the winner, his rival came out to concede defeat and congratulated him. This, according to analysts, should serve as an example to the many world leaders who reject election results in a bid to stay longer in power.

In Kenya, Obama's birth place, celebrations are all over the country as one they consider a "home child" has been mandated with a second term to lead a predominantly white nation. His grandmother is all smiles and proud to see her own groomed grandson lead the world's strongest country.
