Kampala Capital City Authority yesterday demolished a structure on Nile avenue which had become a topic of controversial debate in the parliament. The structure is allegedly to have been constructed in a road reserve. The construction of the building is said to have been endorsed by the Vice president.
Belonging to Foton East Africa Ltd, the building was brought down under the supervision of the Uganda police despite of the resistance from the Chinese contractors who objected the demolition.
Some critics however view this as a ploy to get rid of some more structures of other Ugandans who will be accused of building in road reserves since what happened to this structure showed that nobody is above the law.
