Nelson Mandela, former South African President and freedom Icon will be laid to rest on Sunday 15 December, a statement from the South African President Jacob Zuma revealed.
The official memorial service will be held on December 10 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. From 11 to 13 December, Mandela's body will lie in state at the seat of government, the Union Building in Pretoria where Mandela served as the first Black President of South Africa.
Mandela died on Thursday after over three months bed ridden.
His message of reconciliation, not vengeance, inspired the world after he negotiated a peaceful end to segregation and urged forgiveness for the white government that imprisoned him.
