The Christian fraternity in Uganda will on 3rd June 2014 be celebrating 50 years since the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs and the celebrations are set to be graced by the Holy Catholic Father Pope Francis.
The Martyrs were young, faithful youths who denounced the African Tradition religions for Christianity and were executed on the orders Kabaka Mwanga between 1885 and 1887.
The 22 Martyrs were canonized by Pope Paul VI on 18th Oct 1964 and these were;

Ambrosius Kibuuka
Anatoli kiriggwajjo
Anderea Kaggwa
Antanansio Bazzekuketta
Bruno Sserunkuuma
Charles Lwanga
