MP Kipoi given Ultimatum to appear in next Parliamentary sitting

Speaker of Uganda's Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga has ordered Bubulo West Memeber of Parliament Tony Kipoi to attend the next Parliamentary sitting scheduled for Wednesday (6th November) or else face the consequences.

The legislator was reportedly arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo over reasons yet to be known by the Ugandan government.

Ms. Kadaga said Tony only wrote to her is September requesting for sick leave to go to South Africa for a medical operation. She said she decline to grant it to him since his motives were not very clear.

“I have written, summoning him to appear in parliament by tomorrow, failure to do so, he will face the consequences ” Speaker Kadaga said.

Kipoi has previously been arrested over allegations of dealing in arms, terrorism and treason.

He was remanded to Luzira prison for two months before being bailed out in February. He was later set free.
