Uganda has not yet impressed the fight against corruption in the country especially in the Public service where much of the vice is practiced.
According to the latest Global Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Uganda was ranked 140 out of 177 Countries in which the survey was conducted.
Police was ranked the most corrupt Institution, followed by the Judiciary in second place.
On the global index, Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden and Norway took the first five slots as the best Countries in the fight against Corruption. Somalia, North Korea, Afghanistan, Sudan and South Sudan were the worst performing countries in the fight against the vice.
In East Africa, Burundi is the worst, followed by Uganda. Rwanda (49) and Tanzania (111) were ranked the best countries in East Africa in fighting corruption.
