Brig. Geoffrey Baraba Muheesi was on Tuesday promoted to Maj. General and assigned to head and command operations for the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom), set to fight against the Somali based terrorist group Al-shabab.
He was decorated by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala, at the army headquarters in Mbuya.
Muhesi was actively involved in fighting rebel activities in Uganda especially the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) that had for long dominated the Western part of the Country.
