The split of Kasese District.

Kasese district, one of Uganda's endowed districts in the Western region is on the verge of being split into three smaller districts. This suggestion was raised by a group of individuals who claim  to be marginalized by the other people in the district.

According to this group, Kasese should be split into 3 districts namely Bwera, Rwenzori and Kasese districts. Their argument is that the split will foster rapid growth and development of the area and extend service delivery closer to the people. Despite being endowed with rich mineral reserves of copper, cobalt, lime and agricultural productivity, Kasese still lags behind in development afact that the agitators for the split are using to win the hearts of many.

This however, has met alot of resistance from some natives of the district who claim that the agitators for the split have their own hidden motives and not fostering development as claimed. The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu ( RWENZORI KINGDOM) has also rejected the split proposal.

Kasese awaits the outcome of meetings that are held with the concerned authorities in the district and the local government.
